Common Scenarios
Why wholesale and distribution businesses call us
A container due on booking, customers paying net 30
The supplier wants a deposit at order and the balance before it ships, while your accounts pay a month after delivery. That spread is the defining cash problem of distribution, and it's what short-term capital is built for.
A volume discount worth taking
Double the order and the unit cost drops enough to change your margin for two quarters. Capital that funds in days lets you take the discount instead of reading about it.
A new account that triples your volume
Winning a large customer means buying ahead of a payment cycle you haven't experienced yet. A line of credit scales with the account instead of forcing a new application every month.
Funding That Fits
Which option usually fits — and why
Listed in the order they most often come up for this industry. Most files end up using one; some use two together.

What you'll need
- Six or more months operating with revenue in the account
- Roughly $10,000+ per month in deposits
- A business bank account, not a personal one
- An accounts-receivable aging report and your supplier terms help
- Inventory detail for larger inventory-driven requests
- An equipment quote for equipment financing
How Lenders Read It
Buying on deposit while selling on net terms is the classic distribution squeeze, and it gets worse as you grow rather than better. Lenders look closely at customer concentration and at how reliably your accounts actually pay — a clean AR aging is one of the most useful documents you can bring.

Questions from wholesale and distribution owners
Do you arrange purchase-order or trade finance?
Working capital sized off deposits often solves the same problem with less administration, and it's what most distributors end up using. If dedicated PO or trade finance is genuinely the right structure, your advisor will tell you rather than force-fitting a product.
Does my inventory serve as collateral?
Sometimes. Most working capital and lines in the network are unsecured with a general business lien, but inventory-secured structures exist. Anything pledged appears in the offer before you sign.
Can funding cover duties, freight, and customs?
Yes — those are ordinary uses of working capital or a line of credit. They don't fit equipment financing, which only covers the asset itself. Include them when you tell your advisor the total you need.
